I love tacos! Driving from MN to western SD Sioux Falls is a good lunch/dinner stop. So glad I found this place, the best taco I have had since living in AZ. Nothing fancy, meat, onion, cilantro, and lime on corn tortillas Mmmmmmm......

This place is amazingly delicious! Some days they are making tortillas when you go there, it is as much fun as watching the mini donut machine at the fair! I like automation and am easily amused apparently... The food is priced reasonably, and it is delicious and filling. I try to get there whenever I am in town! Love the place!

On road 17 days a month so try & explore for great food. I don't write many reviews yet but I felt compelled after eating at Tortilleria Hernandez.....OUTSTANDING! I had the steak turpido; fresh bread, full flavored & huge. I also had a steak taco; they make their tortillas fresh everyday & once again awesome taco for $1.50. Staff is friendly & place looks very clean. Definitely my goto place for Mexican in Sioux Falls.

It has been a while since I've been back to this diamond in the rough, mostly because it is rare I am in the area. BUT....The first time I discovered this place over 6 years ago, I walked inside to check it out. I was initially just being nosey, but saw all the freshly prepared tortillas being packed. The gentleman working asked if I would like to buy some, but I only had cc, which they didn't accept at that time. He said, "no problem, you take now and pay later". I could not believe he wanted me to take his product and held me on my good faith to come back later to pay. Finale being, the tortillas blow any store brand away, and I did come back on my goodwill to pay. Definitely give these guys a chance!

First time there today... excellent!! I had the turpido sammy and it was great! The price vs size is crazy. It's a two person ordeal tackling that sandwich. I will be going back there for sure. If you're near Sioux Falls I recommend stopping...

I'm from Los Angeles and been to East LA and Mexico. I must say that this place is very good but the best but I'm picky. An extra star goes to the owners ( husband ABD wife) . Very talkative and friendly especially the Mr. . Hard working and I would support this place every time I'm in Sioux Falls area . Awesome hand made tortillas made from scratch right there and for sale by the dozen.

A hidden gem in Sioux Falls. Arguably the best tacos in town and great tortillas by the bulk. The staff is also super friendly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
